Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has allocated an amount of Rs.197.59 crore for disbursement of house building assistance to the Fani affected families of Puri District. The funds have been made available to the Collector Puri for the first phase relief.
Housing is one of the important sectors which have sustained severe damage due to the recent Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm ‘FANI’ and Puri is the worst affected district in this regard. As per the damage assessment and enumeration conducted by the District Administration, Puri, as many as 2 lakh 87 thousand 762 families have been identified as affected by the Cyclone Fani. While 9059 pucca and kutcha houses in the district have been fully damaged, 104715 houses have been severely damaged. Similarly, 113221 pucca houses and 49529 kutcha houses have been partially damaged. 2178 huts and 119694 cow shed have also been damaged in the cyclone. As per the State Disaster Response Fund and National Disaster Response Fund norms, a person whose house (pucca or kutcha) has been fully or severely damaged will get house building assistance of Rs.95,100. An assistance amount of Rs.5200 is payable for partial damage of pucca house, Rs.3200 for partial damage of kutcha house, Rs.4100 for damage of hut and Rs.2100 for damage of cowshed.
In the first phase, the first installment of Rs 20 thousand will be given to the fully damaged pucca and kutcha house beneficiaries. Likewise, Rs 10,000 will be given as the first installment to the severely damaged pucca and kutcha house beneficiaries. The partially damaged pucca houseand partially damaged kutcha house benificiaries will get the full amount of relief assistance amounting to Rs.5,200 and Rs.3,200/ respectively in the first phase itself. All disbursements will be made through direct benefit transfer mode. The administration has already started the disbursement which is likely to be completed soon.
