431 Naxals, Militia, Sympathizers Surrender in Odisha in Last 10 Years: Min

Bhubaneswar: As many as 431 Naxals, Militia and Naxal sympathisers have surrendered in Odisha during the last ten years and returned to the mainstream, Minister of State for Home Tusharkanti Behera informed the State Legislative Assembly on Monday.

Out of the 431 who surrendered during 2012 to 2022 as many as 224 eligible Maoists were covered under the Surrendered and Rehabilitation policy of the State Government, the Minister said in reply to a question of BJD MLA Soumya Ranjan Patnaik.

He further said that a sum of over Rs 6.73 crore was spent for their rehabilitation.

During the period, Rs 557,62,86,749 was spent on Security Related Expenditure to counter Naxals in the State, he added.
