Bhubaneswar: In a major boost to the Mo School Initiative of the Government of Odisha, another 4664 schools of the state have been associated with the program. In total, the number of schools that have been included in the unique initiative has reached more than 22 thousand till date. The 21st Executive Council Meeting of Mo School initiative held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary of School & Mass Education Department Satyabrata Sahoo also approved projects worth Rs 32 Crore 54 lakhs for various schools in different districts.
Notably, more than 74 thousand alumni of these government schools have contributed Rs 10.85 Crore for development of these schools in the last one month. While Balasore received the highest amount of 3.32 Crore, Keonjhar received 1.90 Crore and Bhadrak received Rs 70.96 Lakhs. The Council meeting reviewed the progress of various projects undertaken under the Mo School program and decided to form district wise separate teams for review of the developmental works. Till date 8083 projects have been completed and 1628 are under progresss in various stages of completion.
The Initiative has got a huge response from various quarters and old students of the Government run schools have voluntarily come forward to help develop their alma mater. Till date 3.60 lakh people have come forward to be associated with the Mo School Initiative and more than Rs 30 Crore have been received.
The School adoption program has received tremendous response and in order to fasten it a special cell has been set under the School and Mass Education Department. Along with this the project monitoring unit has also been strengthened.
