Bhubaneswar: As many as 51,05,290 farmers have been given financial assistance under the innovative KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) scheme till date, informed Odisha Agriculture Minister Arun Kumar Sahu to the Assembly on Thursday.
The beneficiaries have received financial assistance of Rs 5000 each under the scheme till date, while the total amount paid is Rs 2552,64,50,000, said the Minister in a written reply to the question by Congress MLATara Prasad Bahinipati and BJD members Ashwini Patra and Ananta Narayan Jena.
The agriculture minister further informed that 45,965 beneficiaries of the scheme were ineligible, which was found during the verification.
Efforts were on to recover the money from these ineligible beneficiaries, he added.
