New Delhi: India registered 52,509 fresh positive cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The country has recorded over 50,000 cases for the seventh consecutive day, taking the COVID-19 tally to 1,906,613.
The death toll due to infection has risen to 39,795 with 857 new fatalities.
Maharashtra (4,57,956), Tamil Nadu (268,285), Andhra Pradesh (1,76,333), Karnataka (1,45,830) and Delhi (1,39,156) are the five worst affected states.
