5T Impact: Odisha Higher Education Department Outlines Action Plan for Better Service Delivery

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Higher Education Department has prepared a 17-point action plan in line with the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s 5T initiatives in order to ensure better service delivery in the sector.

As per the action plan, the Department has asked the teachers to discharge seven-hour duty on every working day. The attendance of the teachers will be monitored through biometric device.

Apart from this, the students’ attendance of minimum 75% will be made compulsory for appearing in the examinations.

The Higher Education Department is also mulling to establish ‘Mo College’ platform in line with the “Mo School’ campaign to enable alumni and other interested persons contribute towards the infra development of the college.

The action plan also emphases on activating career counseling in universities and reputed colleges and skilling of students of degree colleges to enhance their employability, including soft skills like spoken English.

This apart, colleges and universities will be asked to develop excellence in a few subjects/courses so as to rank as one of the vest institutions in the country to attract outside students, the Higher Education Department said.

Incentive will be given to colleges and teachers for getting accredited under NAAC and for moving to higher ranks. Besides, uniform transfer policy will be brought in for both teaching and non-teaching staff, it added.
