Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched two digital initiatives – the Odisha State Scholarship Portal for disbursing scholarships to students, and “SUMANGAL” Portal to provide cash incentives for promotion of inter-caste marriage, under the 5T charter of governance.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said these portals will promote transparency, simplify procedures and further streamline public service delivery besides serving as digital single windows for the beneficiaries.
Transparency enhances efficiency and efficiency in public delivery brings change in life of common man, the CM stated.
“Provision of scholarship is one of the flagship schemes of State Government towards promotion of educational attainment among students from disadvantaged sections of society”, Naveen said.
A number of departments are running more than 20 scholarships. The Scholarship Portal would be successful in bridging the gap between the scholarship providers and the scholarship seekers, he said.
The Odisha State Scholarship Portal will benefit more than 7.50 lakh students in the current year and an additional 4 lakh students from the next year onwards.
The ST, SC, OBC, SEBC and EBC students of the State will be the first beneficiaries of this Portal.
Inter caste marriage strengthens social integration, lessens caste-prejudices and spread the values of equality and harmony in society, the Chief Minister added.
The grant of cash incentives to inter-caste married couples through “SUMANGAL” portal will benefit the inter-caste married couples to avail cash incentives amounting to Rs 2.50 lakh, directly through online mode.
The Chief Minister thanked the Electronics & Information Technology Department and OCAC for designing these two portals under the 5T initiatives.
