5T: Odisha Introduces Online Pension Scheme for Beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar: As part of the 5T initiatives, the Odisha government has introduced a system through which eligible beneficiaries of old-age pension, widow pension, and differently-abled pension can apply for them online.

The applications will also be approved online by the relevant authorities and the beneficiary will also be able to review the status of the application.

The Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma has informed all district Collectors about the new system through a letter. With the introduction of the new system, it will now no longer be necessary to print forms for the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana and National Social Assistance Programme.

There are nearly 28 lakh beneficiaries under the Madhu Babu Pension Yojana and 20 lakh beneficiaries under the National Social Assistance Programme in Odisha, as per reports. The online system will also help in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
