Puri: On the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian on Saturday visited Puri to take stock of progress of Shree Jagannath Sports Complex works.
The Sports Complex, which is being built under the ABADHA (Augmentation of Basic Amenities and Development of Heritage and Architecture) scheme, will have cricket stadium, a multi-purpose indoor hall and a swimming pool.
Sports such as boxing, wrestling, gymnastics, table tennis are being facilitated in the multi-purpose indoor hall. Along with this, a 100-seat hostel is also being constructed.
In 2018, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of the sports complex.
It is being learnt from review that cricket stadium, swimming pool and work of the gymnasium have been completed. The stadium will be dedicated soon.
The 5T Secretary said that this sports complex will play an important role in transforming Puri into a true heritage site.
He also visited the Srimandir Parikrama project and the construction of the Municipal Market Complex.
The Chief Minister has directed to review the progress of the Puri project every Saturday. Hence, the 5T Secretary visited Puri today and reviewed various projects.
Puri Collector Samarth Verma and other officials were present during the 5T Secretary’s visit.
