Cuttack: As part of the citizen centric service under 5T initiative of the Odisha Government, the State Transport Authority (STA) has introduced auto approval of off-road in respect of commercial vehicles.
Earlier intimation for non-use of transport vehicle (off-road) and continuation thereof have been implemented in online mode in the State to improve the ease of getting the service and to have better user experience.
Facility has been developed in VAHAN portal to apply for non use (off-road) and extension thereof in online mode on or before the date of expiry of the term for which tax has been paid (i.e. on or before last day of a month). Vehicle owners can avail this facility by visiting the portal (https://parivahan.gov.in) from any place of their convenience. Since non use (off-road) intimation will be submitted online, under no circumstances, the vehicle owner will be permitted to declare the vehicle off road after expiry of the term for which tax has been paid on the ground that there was holiday on the last day of that month.
After receiving the non use (off-road) or continuation thereof in online mode, the VAHAN system will do auto validation of registration certificate, Fitness Certificate, permit and up to date tax payment. Thereafter the system will auto approve the application of non use and generate the non use acceptance instantly. The vehicle owners can download acceptance of non use and get printout of the same at their place of convenience, according to the office of Transport Commissioner.
