Fighting COVID-19: BMC to Use Drones for Sanitization Drive

Bhubaneswar: Further stepping up its efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to use drones to intensify its sanitization drive in the city.

The BMC, which has already launched a massive disinfection drive to maintain better sanitation and hygiene conditions in public places, will be using drones for the first time for spraying disinfectants in the capital city.

The civic body will conduct a trial sanitation drive by using drones for spraying disinfectants from Raj Mahal Square to Sishu Bhavan Square from 10 AM to 3 PM. It will be started tomorrow. People are advised to stay indoors.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhury said that it will be done in selective areas on experimental basis.

To sanitize the city, the BMC continues to spraying sodium hypochlorite solution with the help of fire tenders from Odisha Fire Services Department.
