Bahanaga Train Tragedy: DNA Reports of 29 Deceased Received, Bodies to Be Handed Over Today

Bhubaneswar: The DNA reports of 29 deceased persons in the Bahanaga train accident incident have been received by the AIIMS Bhubaneswar authorities. After official modalities, the dead bodies will be handed over to their families. Presently, the dead bodies are kept in three specialized containers at the AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Out of the 81 dead bodies, the DNA reports of 29 deceased have been received from Delhi. The remaining reports are expected to be received in two phases in the coming days.

The identified bodies belong to the deceased passengers from West Bengal, Bihar and Odisha. The dead bodies will be handed over to the family members and the Government of Odisha is bearing all the expenses for the transport of the bodies.

On the other hand, there are reports that the Indian Railways and AIIMS Bhubaneswar authorities have started preparations for the mass cremation of the dead bodies for which there are no claimants. Two crematoriums in the city are being readied for this purpose.
