Puri: One of the most important events associated with the inauguration of the Heritage Corridor Project in Puri, the Sri Jagannath Parikrama Ratha is all set to roll on across the state from today. It is the precursor event before the most ambitious program of inauguration of the Parikrama Prakalpa on the 17th of this month. People across the state will take part in this ten day event to make themselves associated with the divine activity. The Sri Jagannath Parikrama Rath will travel from the villages to cities from today and collect the sacred Gua and Chaula– betel nut and rice from each house which will be sent to Puri. As per reports, the Sri Jagannath Ratha will accompany Sankiratan Mandalis that will sing the glory of the Lord Jagannath. The Sri Jagannath Parikrama Rath will travel across the state and collect Gua Chaula till the 15th of this month.
As part of this, the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration has invited people of the state to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Srimandira Parikrama Project. According to sources, the launch of the Parikrama Prakalpa will be commemorated across the state by organizing various cultural and religious programs associated with Sri Jagannath culture. . The specially designed Jagannath Parikrama Rath will also have audio-visual facilities.
The Government of Odisha is undertaking these promotional activities at the Panchayat and Block level ahead of the opening of the Parikrama project and the aim is to promote, preserve and protect Jagannath culture and to make the future generations aware about these.
