After LoP Naveen Patnaik’s Letter to Mamata Banerjee, Potato Supply Resumes to Odisha: Debi Mishra

Bhubaneswar: After the Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik’s letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee seeking her intervention to resolve the potato crisis in Odisha, the supply of potato to Odisha from the neighboring state has been resumed.

Naveen Patnaik’s letter has put an impact to resolve the problem, said BJD spokesperson Debi Prasad Mishra.

Talking to media, the senior BJD leader said that the potato supply from West Bengal to Odisha has been resumed after LoP Naveen Patnaik wrote a letter to Mamata Banerjee requesting her to intervene in the matter.

“LoP Naveen Patnaik was a Chief Minister for five times. He was a Union Minister. He is an influential leader in the country. When he writes a letter to Mamata Banerjee, what is the problem of others”, the senior BJD leader asked.

Those who are in the opposition, it’s natural for them to raise an issue. Here Naveen Patnaik has raised a constructive issue and has requested Mamata Banerjee to ensure smooth supply of potato to Odisha, Mishra said.

Following the Naveen Patnaik’s letter, the potato supply to Odisha has been resumed, he added.

Amid the soaring prices of potato due to inadequate supply from West Bengal, LoP Naveen Patnaik on Friday wrote to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requesting her to intervene in the matter and ensure smooth supply of potatoes to Odisha.

“As you know, potatoes are an essential item for our people. Due to the rains, there has been a short supply of potatoes in Odisha market, resulting in an artificial price hike adding to the sufferings of the common person”, Naveen wrote.

“On earlier similar occasions, your noble gesture has earned the love and affection of our people. People of Odisha and West Bengal have strong cultural bonds and we are all devotees of Mahaprabhu Sri Jagannath”, the LoP mentioned in his letter.
