New Delhi: In a setback to Team India, all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of the 2019 World Cup due to a toe injury.
India skipper Virat Kohli had informed at the toss during the England game on Sunday that the all-rounder had a toe niggle and the signs weren’t too good.
Vijay Shankar was replaced by Rishabh Pant in the playing XI against England.
The BCCI may now make a formal request to the ICC to call in a replacement, reports said.
The 28-year-old scored 58 runs and took two wickets in three 2019 World Cup matches.
Batsman Mayank Agarwal is likely to replace him in the squad, reports added.
