Bhubaneswar: Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of state-owned Air India commenced operations from Jharsuguda airport also known as Veer Surendra Sai Airport (VSSA) from today.
The Air India subsidiary launched its flight services from VSSA to Odisha’s state capital Bhubaneswar and Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
The flight services will be operated under Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme.
Around 72 passengers travelled from Bhubaneswar to Jharsuguda, 54 journeyed from Jharsuguda to Bhubaneswar on the first day, sources said.
The Jharsuguda airport was launched in September last year. It is the second largest airport in Odisha after the Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar.
