Puri: In a significant development, the Supreme Court-appointed Amicus Curiae Ranjit Kumar, who is in Puri hailed the Odisha Government’s initiative for making Puri a world heritage city on Saturday.
Kumar expressed happiness over the 75-metre eviction drive for the purpose.
Speaking to media, Kumar said, he and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has come to Puri to see whether the Government’s Heritage Corridor project going on in right direction.
Expressing Satisfaction over the progress of the work, Kumar said, the work is going on in right direction with consultation of all concerned.
“ As nearly 15 lakh devotees are expected to throng Puri to witness the Lords’ upcoming Nagarjuna Besha, next year during which will be held after a gap of 25 years. Adequate space is required for the heavy rush to ensure smooth darshan of the Lords. Everyone should be cooperative for the project, which will benefit all stakeholders after from heightening the Jagannath Culture further,” said Kumar.
Kumar and Mehta had earlier paid obeisance to the Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra in the sanctum sanctorum this morning.
The Amicus Curiae also discussed with the SJTA officials about the ongoing Heritage Corridor work and other security measures underway in the pilgrim city.
