Bhubaneswar: Going a step ahead in its fight against the deadly Coronavirus, Odisha will start antigen tests in the state from today.
The government has planned to procure one lakh standard Q Covid-19 Ag (antigen) detection kits for this of which 5000 kits have already been received. This is going to add to the testing capacity in the state especially in the containment zones and hotspots.
Of the first batch of the 5000 kits, half will be sent to Ganjam district and 2000 kits will be sent to Cuttack. The rest 500 kits will be used in Bhubaneswar. In the subsequent days, the kits will be provided to all district headquarter hospitals for testing. Even private hospitals of the state will be permitted to procure the antigen kits for testing the disease the price of which will be fixed soon.
