Aparajita Sarangi Lands in Trouble as FIR Lodged against Her for Violating Social Distancing Norms

Bhubaneswar: At a time when the Odisha Government is repeatedly appealing the people to follow the social distancing norms to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, BJP leader and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has allegedly violated the norms on Wednesday and faced action.

An FIR has been lodged against the BJP MP at the Capital police station on Thursday for violating social distancing norms while holding discussion with party workers here, according to reports.

The police took action against the Lok Sabha MP after the picture of the incident was shared in the social media.

Sarangi had held discussions with BJP leaders and workers disobeying social distancing guidelines as imposed by the government.

Sarangi has also allegedly violated the 14-day quarantine norm as she reached Bhubaneswar on May 22 and has come out on June 3.

Besides, she was also seen without wearing mask while discussing with party workers.

“Why the government is taking strict action against the common citizens for violating norms, and remains silent when it comes to rich and powerful”, said a resident of the capital city under the condition of anonymity.

Is there any guarantee that the MP cannot be a super spreader, he asked?

Notably, Sarangi took to twitter to post the photos of her interacting with the party workers.

“Held good discussion with BJP District Presidents of Bhubaneswar & Khurda in the presence of senior BJP leader,Sri Jagannath Pradhan, yesterday. We talked regarding ways of strengthening BJP in my Parl Constituency & resolved to serve people in a much better manner.Felt happy,” Sarangi twitted.

In another tweet, the Bhubaneswar MP said, “I fully appreciate & respect people’s concern regarding adherence to COVID19 norms. It is a good sign. Acknowledging my duty, I have volunteered to pay the fine due”.

Under very special circumstances, I went to the residence of Sri Jagannath Pradhan, BJP leader, yesterday. I fully appreciate & respect people’s concern regarding adherence to COVID19 norms. It is a good sign. Acknowledging my duty, I have volunteered to pay the fine due.
