New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is likely to replace Rahul Gandhi as president of the Congress, media reports stated.
Hours after the appointment of Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury as leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, the senior leaders have reportedly decided to let Rahul Gandhi to quit the post and give the reins of the grand old party to Gehlot to bring an end to the weeks of impasse.
The Congress is grappling with its leadership crisis as Rahul Gandhi refused to change his decision of stepping down as party president after the humiliating defeat in Lok Sabha polls despite persuasions by the Congress Working Committee.
The Congress will formally announce the appointment of Gehlot for the top post soon, reports stated.
