ASO Assault Incident: Congress Stages Protest near Raj Bhawan Demanding Action against Culprits

Bhubaneswar: The Congress on Tuesday staged protest near Raj Bhawan here demanding action against the culprits in the incident of attacking Assistant Section Officer Baikuntha Pradhan in Puri.

The youth and student wing of Congress protested in front of the Raj Bhawan as no action was taken even after weeks of the incident.

The student Congress members demanded immediate action against the accused.

As per reports, the Governor discussed with the beaten up ASO and promised to take action. But no action has been taken against the accused involved in the incident.

Meanwhile, the State Government has transferred Baikuntha Pradhan to the Home Department.

“Baikuntha Pradhan, Assistant Section Officer, Parliamentary Affairs Department, at present deployed to the Governor’ Secretariat, is hereby transferred and posted as such to Home Department against the existing vacancy with immediate effect”, according to an order issued by the Home Department.

Pradhan, who working at the Governor’s House in Bhubaneswar, alleged that he was assaulted by Governor Raghubar Das’s son Lalit Kumar, at the Puri Raj Bhawan on July 7 during the visit of President Droupadi Murmu.

In his complaint to the Secretary to the Governor, Pradhan alleged that Kumar and his associates attacked him on July 7 night while he was on duty.
