Bhubaneswar: Now, you can pay the court fees online as the Court Fees (Odisha Amendment) Bill, 2020 has been passed in the Odisha Legislative Assembly today.
The bill aims to facilitate electronic mode of payment of court fees.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the the courts in the State are functioning in restricted manner through video conferencing. The HC had permitted electronic filing of cases which necessitates electronic method for payment of court fees.
Notably, the Court Fees Act, 1870 which is in force has the provision for payment of court fees through physical stamps only. With the amendment , it court fee can be paid through electronic mode (e-payment) in the event of e-filing of cases.
