Bahanaga Train Tragedy: CBI Team Grills Three Accused In Remand

Bhubaneswar: A five member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation has started interrogation of the three arrested railway officials in the Bahanaga Railway tragedy incident. The three railways officials are being grilled at the Chandaka Police Station. The CBI had arrested Arun Kumar Mahanta, Senior Section Engineer, Mohammad Amir Khan, Section Engineer and Pappu Kumar, a technician in connection with the case yesterday and took them on a five day remand.

The three have been arrested under Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 201 (destruction or concealment of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. At least 292 people had died and over 800 were injured when the Chennai-bound Coromandel Express, a goods train, and the Howrah-bound Howrah-SMVT Superfast Express met an accident at Bahanaga Bazar railway station in Odisha’s Balasore on June 2.
