Bahanaga Train Tragedy: Free Bus Service To Kolkata Helps Stranded Passengers Reach Destination

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government yesterday announced for commencement of free bus services from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri to Kolkata for the stranded people. The service started yesterday and about 60 buses left for Kolkata. According to information, 20 buses from Puri, 23 from Bhubaneswar and 16 buses from Cuttack left for Kolkata. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered for this service free of cost to help the people who were facing difficulty in reaching their destination. The cost is being borne by the Odisha Government. As part of this, a number of private buses and OSRTC buses were deployed.

Meanwhile, 58 ambulances/Dead body Carriers were deployed at the disposal of BMC/Health Dept for transportation of relatives with the bodies. The RTO, Bhubaneswar is the nodal officer for these ambulances. The ambulances will help the relatives to take the dead bodies to their last destination.
