Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance on Friday apprehended an Additional Programme Officer (contractual) of Muribahal block in Bolangir district for taking a bribe of Rs 45,000 for facilitating release of the bill in respect of renovation work of village pond under MGNREGS.
The accused has been identified as Sushant Kumar Das.
The programme officer had demanded the bribe as first instalment from a Gram Sathi.
Acting on the complaint of the Gram Sathi, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught Das.
The entire bribe money was recovered from his possession.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.36/22 U/s.7 P.C. Amendment Act, 2018 has been registered. The investigation is in progress, the Vigilance stated.
