Balangir Witnesses Major Transformation, Stands 2nd in Niti Aayog’s Ranking in Entire Country

Balangir: Showing signs of major transformation in the development index, Odisha’s Balangir district, which is widely regarded as one of the backward districts in the country, has stood 2nd in entire country in overall delta ranking of aspirational districts by Niti Aayog.

Owing to the innovating steps being taken by the District Collector Arindam Dakua, Balangir has been witnessing a major development in many socio-economic indicators.

Balangir, which was in the 6th position in ranking in the month of October, has jumped to 2nd position in December thanks to excellent performances in Health and Nutrition, Agriculture and Water Resources, Education, Financial Inclusion and Basic Infrastructure sector.

According to the latest ranking, the sectors like Health and Nutrition, Agriculture and Water Resources have performed exceptionally well. While Agriculture sector was in 34th rank in October has jumped to 9th position on the table in December.

Similarly, the Health and Nutrition sector made major stride from 13th position to 2nd position in the latest ranking.

Speaking exclusively to Thenewsroom.co.in about the achievement, district Collector said, “It’s a team effort. It is really immense pleasure to get recognition by the Niti Ayog for the hard work by the team.”

The young collector also made elaborate plans to speed up the development works in the district.

When asked about future plans, he said, “We will work even harder to achieve better.”

Notably, Balangir stood number one in Basic Infrastructure sector in the July 2019 Niti Aayog ranking in entire country in the providing Basic Infrastructure in the district.
