Bhubaneswar: Girish Chandra Behera, In-charge Secretary, Durgadevi Co-Operative Society, Durgadevi in Balasore district has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance for misappropriation of government money from the society.
Behera has allegedly misappropriated the funds by diverting Indemnity claim amount to the tune of Rs 5.8 Lakhs in PMFBY (Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana) meant for 38 farmers who happen to be the victims during the years 2021-2023 and is being forwarded to the Court.
In this connection, Balasore Vigilance PS Case No 2/2025 U/s 13(2)r/w13(1)(a) PC (Amendment) Act, 2018/409 IPC has been registered against the accused Behera.
Investigation is underway into the case.
