Bargarh: A tax collector in Odisha’s Bargarh district was apprehended by the vigilance for allegedly taking bribe from a person on Thursday.
Dinabandhu Panda,Tax Collector at N.A.C., Padampur, Bargarh has been arrested by vigilance sleuths while he was demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.25,000 from complaint for transfer of holding number and reduction of annual holding tax of his purchased building.
Following trap, simultaneous house searches have been launched on properties of Panda at 2 places in Bargarh district, the vigilance informed.
In this connection, a case has been registered against the tax collector and the investigation is in progress, it added.
