Bastar Encounter: Seven Naxals Killed, INSAS Rifle Recovered

Chhattisgarh: Based on a specific intelligence input about presence of around 40 to 50 Naxals near Tiriya-Machkot jungles yesterday along the Chhattisgarh-Orissa border area, an operation was launched involving DRG and STF and troops of CRPF.

According to Deputy Inspector General of police (anti-naxal operations) Sundarraj P, the encounter happened near Tiriya village under Nagarnar police station area bordering Odisha, On 27th July at around 1530  hrs and an exchange of fire took place between DRG and STF and Naxals.

During the search operations after the encounter, seven dead bodies including that of three female Maoist cadres were recovered from the spot. Efforts are being made for identification of the dead bodies and the Maoist formation involved in the encounter. Forces have recovered one Insas rifle, four .303 rifles along with many other muzzle loading weapons and Naxal camping materials from the spot.
