Berhampur: Four persons, including an engineering student, were arrested in connection with a major burglary involving the theft of gold jewelry, cash, and different household items from a residence in the Ralaba Road area under Golanthara Police Station.
The arrested persons have been identified as Bikash Bisoyi (23) of Bhismagiri village; Silu Nayak (21), an engineering student of Bhismagiri village; Kalia Behera (21) of Village Bichhapata village and Saras Kumar Nayak (32) of Borosingi village.
The police also recovered the stolen items, including gold ornaments weighing 56 g and cash worth Rs 1,40,000 from the possession of the accused persons.
Based on the written report of complaint Surya Narayana Achary (48), one burglary case was registered pertaining to theft of gold and silver ornaments including cash from his house at Ralab road by some unknown culprits on the night of December 18, 2024.
The stolen gold ornaments and other articles were seized from the exclusive possession of the accused persons in presence of witnesses, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.
During investigation, the accused persons are found involved in commission of series of cases in different areas of the district. The accused persons have been forwarded to court, he added.
