Berhampur: In a major breakthrough, Berhampur Police arrested Sathish Kumar Mishra, alias Mouja Mishra, a wanted criminal in two murder cases and multiple other crimes.
The operation was led by Inspector Smruti Prava, IIC of Gosaninugaon Police Station, with SI Gyanaranjan Behera, Sai Gaurab, ASI Ranjith Raula, OAPF Anand Sabar, OAPF Sanjeev Rao, and Constables Ajit and Krishna.
Mishra, a notorious antisocial figure wanted in Shanti Mishra murder case and Station murder case, was arrested by the police team from his hideout in Jatni today.
Sathish was initially arrested for a 2006 murder of Ganesh Suna near Berhampur railway station. He was attested along with another five accused persons. He got bail after 6 months.
He was again arrested in a rioting case in 2006. Later in the year 2013 he was arrested in Shati Mishra murder case along with 11 other accused persons. He was granted bail in 2016 and since then he was not appearing in the court trail. In the year 2019 a NBW was issued against him by the sessions court and he was absconding since then.
Recently the Shanti Mishra murder case ended in conviction and 11 accused persons were convicted and send to jail. Sathish Mishra was absconding to avoid the court.
While he was absconding he was involved in firing case of the former mayor Pintu Das case.
Till now four NBWs are pending in the above cases.
Acting on confidential information, the Berhampur Police team adopted a covert approach to nab him. The team camped near his hideout in Jatni mixing with civilians and living like civilians. Police staffs became employees of pawn shops and vegetable shops to keep a watch on the accused person.
Their persistence paid off, leading to his arrest at a rented accommodation in Jatni.The arrest marks a significant achievement for Berhampur Police in their fight against organized crime, bringing a long-absconding criminal to justice.
