Berhampur: The Berhampur Police has solved a series of burglary cases that took place in the last few months and returned the recovered valuables worth Rs 42 lakhs including 805 gram gold jewelry and 2 kgs of silver to the rightful owners. During last month, a series of burglary cases were reported at different Police Stations under Berhampur Police District at Nimakhandi, Bada Bazzar and Golantahra. A team was formed under the supervision of SDPO Sadar and consisting of the IICs of Nimakhandi, Golanthara, Bada Bazar to detect the cases.
In a major breakthrough, information about the accused persons was received and they have been apprehended. They were thoroughly interrogated after which they confessed to have committed the burglaries at Shakti Nagar under Nimakhandi PS, Om Nagar and Gold Testing Center Sana Bazzar Chhaka under Bada Bazzar PS, Belakudi and Kutulu Sorola under Golanthara PS.
On the 14th of February this year, a police case was registered on the report of a complainant that, on 13/14 February 2023 night, some unknown culprits committed burglary at the Gold Testing Center or Workshop situated at Sana Bazzar Chaka, Bada Bazzar Berhampur. The culprits burgled 615 Grams of Gold Biscuits with some gold foils and around 2 KGs of Silver slabs.
During investigation, a team of Bada Bazzar Police proceeded to village Daspur of Paschim Medinapur in West Bengal and successfully traced out the culprits, arrested two persons with recovery of total 540 grams of gold and 1 kg 700 grams of silver. The arrested accused persons have been brought to Berhampur and have been forwarded to Court today.
All total Gold ornaments weighing 805.5 grams and silver ornaments weighing 2 Kg 50.6 grams were recovered from the possession of accused persons. They are arrested and forwarded to the court. The seized gold and silver ornaments have been handed over to the rightful owners at the SP office by SP Berhampur in the presence of all the officers. The complainants thanked the police officers for their sincere effort.
