Berhampur Scrap Sculpture Park Continues to Enthrall Visitors, Create Records

Berhampur: The Scrap Sculpture Park situated in the premises of ITI Berhampur continues to achieve more and more accolades not just from the locals but also from visitors coming from outside the State.

It is the largest Scrap Sculpture Park in any educational institute in the country and is continuously creating records for its innovative creations. The Park inaugurated in the year 2020, has become the largest one with 25 sculptures made out of mainly iron scrap. Some of the sculptures like the Guitar which is 72 feet height, a Giraffe which is 35 feet height, and the fishing lure that is 30 feet height, mesmerize the visitors.

The 35 feet Iron Man – is an all time favorite of the children coming to the Park. All these Scrap Sculptures have made it to the Asia Book of Records.

The latest addition to the Park is the largest Odisha Map installed a few days back. It has become a major visiting place for the citizens of Berhampur. The colorful background has become the most sought after Selfie point in the town. All these creations have been made by the students of the Institute with the help of the teaching and non teaching staff. These creative works have helped the students with improved skills.

ITI Berhampur is one of the oldest technical institutes in the State and has become the number one institute in terms of placement and ranking at the national level. It has a distinction of having 100% placement for its students who opt to go for it after attaining 18 years. The institute is currently having more than 3600 students in 24 trades and ranks as the best in the State. It is the 12th best ITI in the country as per the Govt of India grading.

The innovations done by the students of Berhampur ITI during the Pandemic period have been appreciated by both the Prime Minister and Chief Minister. The innovations have received accolades from patient journals and peer reviews. This Sculpture Park has become an Education wonderland for the students.

According to Rajat Panigrahi, Principal, ITI Berhampur, “This is a purely innovative concept of skill development through waste management. We have more than 25 small and big sculptures starting from 7 feet to 70 feet that are designed, fabricated and installed by the students. It has become a workshop to incubate something new for its resourceful and industrious scholars.”
