Bhanjanagar Thakurani Yatra Marks a Reflection of Harmony and Brotherhood

Bhanjanagar: The spirit of interfaith harmony and brotherhood has been vibrantly reflected in the Bhanjanagar Thakurani Yatra in Odisha’s Ganjam district.

The 21-day-long festival, which started on Wednesday with much pomp and gaiety, spreads the message of university brotherhood and promotes interfaith harmony among the people.

Odisha Assembly Speaker Bikram Keshari Arukha, who represents Bhanjanagar Constituency, attended the famous Thakurani Yatra, which saw participation and enthusiasm of people from various communities.

On the occasion, a beautiful statue of Jesus Christ at Christian street, a sculpture like pillar of Mecca-Medina along with a replica of Holy Quran in front of Jamia Masjid in the town, and artworks and idols of Goddess Baghradevi, Thakurani and Kali at the old vegetable market of Bhanjanagar NAC were unveiled by the Speaker.

The festival has brought a great joy to the Muslims and Christians alike.

Arukha also inaugurated the new Bhawan of Bhanjanagar Irrigation Department Employee Association (BIDECA).The new Bhawan will host all kinds of social and cultural programmes.

Bhanjanagar NAC Chairman Gopabandhu Mahapatra, NAC Executive Officer Asuthosh Gourav Kar and prominent personalities from various communities were present on the occasion.
