Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi Violates COVID-19 Guidelines Again! Odisha Min Draws Attention of Union MoS Home Nityanand Rai
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Minister Energy, MSME, Industries & Home (MoS), Dibya Shankar Mishra today wrote to Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai alleging violation of COVID-19 guidelines by Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi while celebrating her birthday.
Enclosing the videos along with the letter, the Odisha Minister said that the video clearly shows the MP surrounded by hundreds of women who are neither wearing masks (except one) nor maintaining social distance and indulging in song and dance with utter disregard to Covid guidelines issued under the National Disaster Management Act and the earnest repeated appeals made by Prime Minister regarding the same.
The Bhubaneswar MP has blatantly violated COVID guidelines several occasions. In addition to repeated advisories, warnings and booking of at least three cases against Sarangi for violation of Covid guidelines, there is no improvement in her behavior, Mishra mentioned in his letter to the Union Minister.
“These irresponsible acts will put her, people near to her and the public at large at grave risk of fife. It may be noted that Bhubaneswar city is fighting a serious battle and many Covid Warriors are working night and day to save precious lives. Some of the Covid Warriors have also sacrificed their lives. Such irresponsible behavior on the part of a people’s representative will demotivate the Covid Warriors and is an insult to all those who have lost their lives. And it also sends a completely contradictory message to the people at large especially in the light of Honourable Prime Minister’s repeated messages and his appeal yesterday”, the letter said.
Mishra said, “She is a people’s representative and people look up to her. She is also the national spokesperson of the BJP. It is important that her conduct inspires people to follow the COVID-19 guidelines at this very critical juncture. These are tough times when people have obeyed the lock down and sacrificed their livelihood”.
109 persons have lost their lives in COVID-19 and 5 COVID Warriors have sacrificed their lives in the fight against COVID in Bhubaneswar alone. In this backdrop the MP celebrating her birthday in disregard of COVID guidelines makes a complete mockery of the struggles and sufferings that ordinary people are going through, Mishra further said.
He also urged the Union Minister to bring the issue of COVID guidelines violation by the Bhubaneswar MP to the notice of Prime Minister and Union Home Minister and advise the MP not to endanger the lives of the people of Bhubaneswar.
