Bhubaneswar is Safe: Health Secy

Bhubaneswar: Even as Bhubaneswar has turned out to be a hotspot for Coronavirus, the Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Saturday assured that the denizens of capital city are safe from COVID-19.

Revealing the secret of success in containment of the deadly virus, Dhal said, “Timely intervention by the Government has made the capital city a safe zone due to the prompt contact tracing of the suspected patients and their mandatory quarantine followed by sample test. I can say it in a sentence: Bhubaneswar is safe”.

He said the surveillance teams have successfully traced the suspected patients, collected their travel history and a detailed contact list. On the basis of the list, the sample tests of these persons are being done without delay.

Meanwhile, the Government has started massive rapid testing of blood samples for coronavirus in the city .

“The testing for COVID-19 in Bhubaneswar has been intensified. The testing is being done on the basis of vulnerability list as prescribed by ICMR and Health & Family Welfare Department, Government of Odisha,” an official statement said.

Odisha Government’s chief spokesman on COVID-19, Subroto Bagchi and I & PR Secretary Sanjay Kumar Singh briefed the press about the various steps being taken by the Government in combating Coronavirus.
