Big Fish In Vigilance Net: IFS Abhay Kanta Pathak Raided In Disproportionate Assets Case

Bhubaneswar: In what could be the biggest ever raid by the Odisha Vigilance department, investigators today carried out raids in five places in Bhubaneswar and 7 places in Pune and Mumbai basing on the allegations of possession of disproportionate assets by IFS Abhay Kant Pathak. He is presently posted as the Additional PCCF, Plan, Program & Afforestation, Odisha.

He has been accused of intentionally enriching himself illicitly and amassing huge wealth and assets disproportionate to the known sources of income. Simultaneous searches are being conducted at 5 places in Bhubaneswar and 7 places at Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra by officers of Odisha Vigilance on the strength of search warrants issued by Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the searches are being conducted by a number of teams and more than 150 officers are engaged in the process. Unconfirmed sources said the raids are also going on in Bihar and Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Abhay Kant Pathak, 1987 batch Odisha Cadre IFS Officer is well known for his lavish lifestyle. Sources have told that recently he also had hired a chartered flight for his travel.
