Binayak Acharya College Ragging Video Viral: Berhampur Police Arrests Two Students

Berhampur: The Berhampur Police on Wednesday arrested two students of Binayak Acharya College for allegedly ragging a junior girl student.

The video of the incident went viral.

On the report of the victim of the viral video, the Badabazar arrested the main accused Abhishek Nahak (24) and Bablu Panda (18).

Besides, three others have been detained for questioning.

The police will recommend the college administration to rusticate the two arrested students from Binayak Acharya College, informed Berhampur SP Dr. Saravana Vivek M.

Further investigation is underway to verify the involvement of other students. All other students involved in the ragging would be included in the criminal investigation. They would be recommended for suspension for 1 year from the college. The disciplinary action would be taken by the college administration, he added.

As per the Supreme Court guidelines every educational institution should have an internal anti ragging cell comprising group of senior teachers both male and female. Every new batch students as soon as they join a college will be given a class about anti ragging mechanisms by the anti-ragging cell.

Junior students will know whom to complain in case of such ragging. If ragging is reported internal anti ragging cell will investigate the matter and take appropriate action. If any criminal act is found by the anti ragging cell, it will immediately be reported to police and lawful action would be taken against the students involved in ragging. If required students involved in ragging will be arrested also like in this case, the police said.
