Binny, India’s Lone Orangutan Passes Away in Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoo

Bhubaneswar:  India’s lone orangutan ‘Binny’ passed away last night at Odisha’s Nandankanan Zoological Park following a prolonged illness.

The aged 41-year-old orangutan died at about 9.40 PM on Wednesday due to old age complicacy followed by respiratory tract infection.  

The animal was under long term treatment since one year by the experts from the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry OUAT under constant advise of the Orangutan experts from UK and Singapore. 

The detail cause of its death will be ascertained after its Post mortem on Thursday.

Orangutan Binny was received from Pune zoo  in 2003 at the age of 25 years. 

Since last three days she was suffering from cold and old age related respiratory tract issues. Accordingly treatment was going on.
