Bhubaneswar: Four candidates of Biju Janata Dal today filed nomination papers for the Rajya Sabha elections with the returning officer Dasarathi Satapathy at the State assembly.
As announced by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Munna Khan, Sujeet Kumar, Subash Singh and Mamata Mahanta today filed the papers in the presence of Party Supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
With 113 MLAs of its own and one independent MLA supporting the BJD, and the congress deciding to abstain from voting, all the four candidates are set to be elected to the Rajya Sabha. BJP has also said that the party wont field any candidate for the elections.
The Rajya Sabha elections will be held on the 26th of this month and counting will be complete by 6 pm the same day.
