Bhubaneswar: A delegation of Biju Janata Dal today met the State Election Commission (SEC) demanding immediate arrest of former minister Manmohan Samal and other BJP workers involved in the murder of BJD supporter Pratap Chandra Rout in Dhamnagar area of Bhadrak district.
Strongly condemning the violence, the BJD delegation said that due to fear of losing the ongoing Panchayat elections the Odisha unit of BJP has unleashed massive violence against the BJD candidates, supporters and citizens.
The ruling party alleged that a murderous attack was perpetuated on a BJD supporter Pratap Chandra Rout belonging to Jahangir area, Dalanga Panchayat, Dhamnagar P.S, Bhadrak.
Rout was threatened by BJP leaders not to campaign for BJD and subsequently he was murdered by BJP workers led by former minister Manmohan Samal, the delegation informed the SEC.
The delegation also requested the Commission to take exemplary action against all those who are indulging in violent actions in order to disrupt the elections.
For fear of loss, the Bharatiya Janata Party has become blood thirsty and today’s incident is an example for this, it added.
