BJD Hits Back at Cong, Says Masks Procured as Per Centre Guidelines

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has procured masks as per the Government of India guidelines and not paid a single paisa more than the stipulated price of Rs 16 per mask, said BJD spokesperson and member of Rajya Sabha, Sasmit Patra today.

Condemning Congress allegations over irregularities in procurement of masks, Patra said, Congress is making false and baseless allegations.

Addressing media persons, he said, as per the technical committee, 5 crore masks were needed for the State. On March 21, the Centre had said masks can be procured at Rs 10 per mask. However, as the production cost went up, the Centre again raised the price to Rs 16 per mask, Patra added.

Government of Odisha has procured as per the guidelines from the Centre, he reiterated. He further said that other States have procured the masks at the rate of rs 16-20 per mask.

Procuring masks was the need of the hour at that time to save the lives of Corona warriors, Patra said.
