Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal President Naveen Patnaik launched the BJD’s membership drive at Sankha Bhawan here on Wednesday on the occasion of birth anniversary of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das.
Naveen Patnaik was the first to renew his party membership.
Addressing the party leaders and workers, Naveen said that the BJD is still the number one party in Odisha. In the last elections, BJD got more votes. The vote percentage was also high. A lot of good work has been done in the state during the BJD government. The BJD government’s schemes and programmes are model for others. BJD is in the heart of people of Odisha. The BJD is working dedicatedly for the glory of the people of Odisha, Naveen said.
Creating a vote bank was never the aim of the BJD government. Development and welfare is our focus, the BJD supremo said while asserting that no one can deprive the people of Odisha from the development and welfare schemes initiated by his government.
He said, “Our beloved Biju Babu has fought till the end of his life for the service of the people of Odisha and their interests.
The membership drive is an important programme of a political party, said the BJD President while urging the party leaders to reach out to the people and sensitize them the developmental works done by the BJD government.
The BJD President has also invited the Odias living outside the state to join the party online.
The membership drive will be carried out in across the state with focus on adding all segments of the people into the party fold. The membership drive will be conducted both online and offline for two months.
