Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MP Prasanna Acharya today urged the Centre to change the name of Orissa High Court to Odisha High Court.
Raising the issue during the zero hour of the Rajya Sabha, the BJD MP has demanded before the Centre to bring a legislation to change the name of Orissa High Court.
He said, “Though Orissa became Odisha in 2011, the high court of the State continued to be called as the High Court of Orissa. Therefore, I proposed the Centre today to change the name”.
“As there is no specific law to change the name, I urged the Centre to bring a legislation and consult with the Odisha government and the HC and change the name to High Court of Odisha”, he added.
