BJD MP Sasmit Patra Donates Rs 1 Crore from MPLAD Fund to Central Government to Fight COVID-19

Bhubaneswar: In a noble gesture, Odisha’s Biju Janata Dal MP Dr. Sasmit Patra has provided Rs 1 Crore from the MPLAD Fund to the Central Government towards fighting Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Rajya Sabha MP has also donated his one month’s salary to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund (PMRF).

He informed that he used the online portal of http://pmnrf.gov.in to make the payment, thus avoiding stepping out of the house.

Inspired by Odisha Chief Minister’s donation of his three months’ salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, the Rajya Sabha MP also followed the footsteps of Naveen Patnaik by donating his three months’ salary i.e Rs 3 lakh to the CMRF.

With this, Patra has donated his four month’s salary and two cores to fight the deadly Coronavirus.

Earlier on 25th March Patra announced to provide his three month’s salary and Rs 1 Crore from the MPLAD Fund to Chief Minister’s Relief fund towards fighting Coronavirus.

He also spoke to the District Collector of Mayurbhanj and started the process.

“Mayurbhanj has special needs, being a tribal-dominated and an inter-state border district has special needs. Together, we can and we will fight this menace and defeat it,” said Patra.
