BJD Nominates Rajanikant Singh as Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: In a significant development, the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Friday nominated its Angul MLA Rajanikant Singh as contender for the post of Deputy Speaker in Odisha Assembly.

BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik proposed the name of Singh as their candidate.

Besides it, Dharmasala legislator Pranab Balabantaray has been appointed as the BJD’s chief whip in the assembly, a statement issued by the ruling party said.

Notably, senior BJD leader and Digapahandi MLA Surya Narayan Patro was elected as the Speaker of the Assembly.
