BJD Not Dependent on Me for Its Survival and Growth, Says Naveen Patnaik

Bhubaneswar: Ruling Biju Janata Dal president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday said that his party is not dependent on some or other leaders including himself for its survival and growth.

While speaking at the party’s Foundation Day event here Naveen said, “Biju Janata Dal is not a political party and it is not dependent on some or other leaders, including me for its survival and growth.”

“Biju Babu was saying that don’t be loyal to me but be loyal to the cause of Odisha’s destiny. True to his words, BJD has now become a people’s movement “, Naveen added.

It’s a movement to serve and empower the four and half crore people of Odisha, who are part of our family, he further added.

Your dedication, hard work and sacrifice is acting as oxygen to strengthen the party, the BJD supremo told party workers.

“We are not bothering to win votes, rather we aim to win the heart of the people by serving them. And we are working 365 days to fulfill the aspiration of the people. Following this philosophy, the Biju Janata Dal has become symbol of development”, he added.

In power for around two decades, the Naveen Patnaik-led BJD celebrated its 23rd Foundation Day, which was the first after coming to power for the fifth consecutive term.

Instead of organizing a grand rally to celebrate the Day, the party celebrated the foundation day in all 147 Assembly constituencies while Patnaik addressed a gathering at the party headquarters here.
