Gopalpur: A crucial organisational meeting of the Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal was held in Gopalpur Assembly constituency today under the chairmanship of Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, president of Ganjam unit of the BJD.
The BJD leaders and workers in the district have unanimously welcomed the decision of party President Naveen Patnaik’s decision to expel tainted Gopalpur MLA Pradeep Panigrahi from the party for his anti-people activities.
The leaders stated that the action against Panigrahi has sent a strong message that there is no place for a tainted leader in the party.
It was decided in the meeting that all steps will be taken to make the party further strengthened in the constituency following the ideologies of Naveen Patnaik.
Speaking to media, Ganjam BJD President Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik said, “All leaders in our district, especially in Gopalpur constituency, are very happy now after actions were taken against the MLA”.
“All the BJD workers are loyal to chief minister Naveen Patnaik and not to any other leaders,” he said.
” We will further strengthen the party in the district”, he added.
The organisational meeting assumes significance as the ruling party is gearing up to observe its 24th Foundation Day on December 26.
With disgraced MLA Pradeep Panigrahi out of the BJD, the organisational structure in the constituency is likely to see a revamp in the coming months, sources said.
