Bhubaneswar: Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), which has strong base at the grassroots level, is all set to start its annual Jan Sampark Padayatra on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Besides spreading the ideologies of the party through people-to-people contact, the BJD will apprise the people about the 5T mantra of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and his Mo Sarkar initiative.
This year’s padayatra will not just confine at the district level. The party workers and leaders will take it to every ward and panchayat throughout the State, said a statement issued by the BJD.
The BJD supremo urged the party workers, activists, senior leaders, observers, conveners and legislators to strive hard to make the programme successful.
Earlier on September 2, the BJD had launched its membership drive with a target to register at least 1 core new members to the party fold. The party president expressed satisfaction over the progress of the membership drive.
As per sources, the BJD will further intensify the membership drive during the upcoming padayatra with focus on youths, students and women.
The BJD will hold the annual Jan Sampark Padayatra for ten days from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 to Jaiprakash Narayan Jayanti on October 11. Like every year, it will organize various party programmes and celebrate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, birth anniversary of Utkalmani Gopabandhu Dash on October 9 and birth anniversary of Jaiprakash Narayan on October 11.
Various wings the BJD such as Biju Mahila Janata Dal, Minority Cell, Biju Yuva Janata Dal, Biju Krushak Janata Dal, Biju Chhatra Janata Dal will actively participate in the padayatra.
