BJD to Hold Protest against Rising Prices on January 6

Bhubaneswar: The opposition Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has decided to hold a protest here on January 6 over the state government’s failure to control soaring prices of essential commodities.

In a press conference held at Sankha Bhawan, the BJD came down heavily on the BJP government, alleging that the excessive price hike of essential commodities has put a lot of hardships on the common people. The state government has completely failed to control the inflation.

The BJD announced that the demonstration will be held from Lower PMG to Lok Seva Bhawan on January 6 against the rising prices.

The BJP government, which came to power both at the Centre and at the state with the slogan of double engine double development, has completely failed in controlling inflation and managing the economy. A new record has been created in the inflation. While crude oil prices have been falling steadily in the international market, however, price of petrol and diesel in the country has been increasing, the BJD alleged.

The people are suffering due to the increase in prices, but there is no initiative from the government to stop it. Hence, a protest will be held in the capital city on January 6, the BJD said.
